Try Greek Lemon Chicken Soup For A Cozy 30-Minute Dinner Tonight

This is the bowl I’d make after a long Friday.

I Tested The Viral Million Dollar Chicken Casserole So You Can Skip Straight To The Good Part

Hey Friday Cook,

What if the best thing you ate this week only took thirty minutes?

Fridays used to mean takeout by default because I was too tired to think about cooking something worth eating.

Not until I made this Greek Lemon Chicken Soup on a Friday night with a rotisserie chicken I grabbed on the way home, and that habit broke.

The broth came out silky and rich, and there's no cream in it anywhere.

The first time I saw the broth change color and texture in real time, I understood why this soup stays on every Greek restaurant menu.

Four minutes of patient whisking does what cream can't, and now I don't have to order it to have it. That bowl is mine to make any Friday I want.

Grab the recipe card so the egg step is right in front of you when you start.

Quick Poll

Using rotisserie chicken in Greek Lemon Chicken Soup is either a brilliant weeknight move or a shortcut that disrespects the dish. There is no in between.

The Greek Lemon Chicken Soup I Make Every Friday

Starting this soup is easier than it looks:

  • Heat olive oil and soften the vegetables for about seven minutes

  • Add broth, bring it to a boil, then cook the orzo until just tender

  • Stir in the shredded rotisserie chicken and taste the broth for salt

  • Whisk eggs with fresh lemon juice, temper slowly with hot broth, then pour it back into the pot on the lowest heat

The whole pot comes together in thirty minutes from start to bowl. The free recipe card keeps every ingredient in order so nothing gets missed.

Why This Is My Go-To Friday Night Soup

Friday is not the night for a two-hour project. It's the night for something that tastes like I put in the effort without actually destroying myself to do it:

  • A rotisserie chicken from the store means the hardest part is already done

  • One pot handles everything so cleanup doesn't become the second job

  • Thirty minutes from the first chop to the bowl on the table

The week is done. This soup fits exactly where Friday needs it, and the full recipe is one click away.

Every good kitchen has a project waiting on the right drill. This might be the one that finally gets it done. Closes May 10 at 11:59 PM ET.

Today, make a soup that actually feels worth sitting down for. One bowl of this soup and you'll understand why it hasn't left my weekly rotation since the first time I made it.
